Office of the Barcelona Provincial Council in Brussels
Since 1998, the delegation in Brussels works to represent and defend the local interests of the 311 municipalities of the province of Barcelona at Europe's capital.
The proximity to the institutions and the dynamics of working in networks of the European capital have allowed to strengthen the role of the local governments of the province in Europe and the world.
What do we do?
- Promote the visibility of the municipalities of the province in Europe by publicising and promoting the innovative initiatives and good practices of the Barcelona Provincial Council and its municipalities.
- Connect with the institutions, the European functionaries, the representatives of other regions, the networks, and other international organisations (Europa's Council, OCDE, ONUHABITAT, PNUD).
- Monitor European policies with local impact, ensuring the needs of the territory, and participating in formal and informal strategies to influence decision-making in the EU.
-
To train local elected and technical officials on the functioning of the European Union's institutional decision-making system.
-
Support the search for partners for European projects, as well as the identification of other opportunities.
- Participate in conferences, Info Days, consultations with stakeholders of the Committee of the Regions, etc.
-
Offer specialized technical advice to strengthen local policies in European and international matters.
- Track the Catalan and Spanish activities and action in Brussels.
- To provide the facilities for meetings and trainings of local authorities in the province.
