The Department of Economy and Finance of the Government of Catalonia recognises the key role of the provincial councils in supporting local authorities in the implementation of Next Generation EU funds
The European funds portal of the Government of Catalonia now redirects users to the websites of the provincial councils, highlighting their support work for municipalities.
Within the framework of the implementation of the Next Generation EU funds, the Department of Economy and Finance of the Government of Catalonia, through the Directorate-General for European Funds and State Aid, and the Catalan provincial councils maintain ongoing cooperation to strengthen the role of local authorities in the execution of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). This joint work enhances institutional coordination and facilitates municipalities’ access to information and available resources.
In this context, the Government of Catalonia explicitly recognises the work carried out by the provincial councils as supramunicipal support bodies and, as a simplification measure, has decided that the section dedicated to local authorities on the European funds portal will directly redirect to the websites of the provincial councils.
This approach provides clearer and more structured access to information, avoids duplication and makes use of already established communication channels. In the case of the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Next Diba Service website is consolidated as a reference space for local authorities, offering up-to-date information on open calls, relevant documentation, information sessions, support resources and good practices in European funding.
